Delete your account
Last updated:
Dear Car is made by Qusai Eilouti. You can delete your Dear Car account at any time, in the app or by email. Deletion cannot be undone.
In the app
- Open Dear Car and go to Account.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm. To protect you, deleting needs a sign-in from the last 10 minutes; if it has been longer, sign out and in again first.
Without the app
Email support@dearcar.app from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. If you signed in with Apple and hid your address, write from any address and tell us the private relay address Apple shows for Dear Car in your Apple ID settings, under Sign in with Apple. We may ask you to confirm the request from the address on the account. We delete the account within 30 days of confirming the request, usually within a few days, and reply once it is done.
How long it takes
In the app, your account is deleted the moment you confirm, and every phone is signed out. The rest of the list below is removed automatically within minutes. Copies in our database backups are gone within 30 days. Crash reports, which carry only an account number and not your name or email, are deleted within 90 days.
What is deleted
- Your account: name, email address, password, sign-in methods and sessions.
- The phones you registered for notifications.
- The problem reports, feature requests and feedback you sent from the app.
- Your place in every garage: you leave them all, with your driving licence expiries and the services assigned to you.
- Garages you own with nobody else left in them, together with their cars, records, reminders, photos and documents.
- Your Garage plan status. RevenueCat and our analytics provider, PostHog, are asked to delete what they hold about you, and Sign in with Apple’s access to the app is revoked.
What stays, and why
A garage is shared. If you own a garage that has other members, it passes to the longest-standing one. Entries you logged in a garage that others still use stay in that car’s history, because the others rely on it. Open cost-sharing balances stay so the others’ totals add up, without your name. Apple and Google keep their own records of what you bought from their stores. More in the Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions
Deleting your account does not cancel a Garage plan, monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store or Google Play: the store keeps renewing it until you cancel. Cancel it in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings, before or after you delete your account.
